At the end of February, fifteen construction organizations launched the Eco-Materials Alliance, a collective aimed at accelerating the use of bio-based and geo-based solutions in the sector. Wood, hemp, straw, or earth: these minimally processed materials generate little carbon and can store it long-term within buildings, thereby contributing to the decarbonization of an industry responsible for 23% of France’s greenhouse gas emissions. The initiative aims to structure local networks, support innovation, and promote the dissemination of sustainable professional practices. The Alliance also plans to propose incentive measures to public authorities, such as reduced VAT rates or bonus-malus schemes encouraging the use of low-carbon products.
